The AmericaPutMeOutofBusiness.com website was created by Daren Jorgenson as a direct challenge to American citizens to question and challenge the overpriced prescription medication costs in the United States. The website challenges American Citizens to band together and tell their elected officials and political leaders that they are outraged at paying 80% more than citizens of any other country for their prescription medication. The website informs Americans that Canadian online pharmacies offer the same, safe prescription medication at a fraction of what most Americans pay, hoping that they will realize this and hold their elected officials accountable for their past and present positions on the issue. The mission of AmericaPutMeOutofBusiness.com is for Americans (not Big Pharma, the F.D.A., or other drug companies) to put Canadian online pharmacies out of business the right way by electing politicians and political leaders that will bring affordable prescription prices to American pharmacies and American citizens. The website also offers up to date news articles related to the drug reimportation issue.

Bush was not a supporter of the Medicare prescription drug benefit until it became apparent that almost 80% of Americans were supporters, they were not going to give up, and failure of Bush to support it was political suicide for the president and fellow Republicans. The $530 billion cost is a third more than the Bush administration estimated for Congress as our senators and representatives deliberated the measure, and some estimates place its costs over the next 10 years at closer to $1 trillion. It is unlikely that Congress would have approved the benefit had it known its true cost, a cost that the Bush administration hid in part by threatening to fire Medicare's chief financial analyst if he told Congress what he believed the real cost to be.
